Hey there, final eleven! I’m not sure why, but I’m in the mood for drama this week. Hopefully, that will still be the case when it’s judging time (and hey, comedy’s fair game here too, but it’s not what I’m envisioning as I come up with the challenge).

This week, your task is to write about someone who’s struggling with decline – of his talents, sure, but even of the use of his body, or whatever. In some way, your lead character’s experiencing decline, and that should be at the center of the narrative.

Whether the character succumbs to decline or rises to the occasion like Beethoven (writing symphonies after going deaf? I mean, honestly, he is awesome) is up to you. And that’s all I have to say about this one…run wild and free, gentle competitors.

Rules of elimination and everything are the same, and I’ll stick with Sunday at 8pm Central for the due time since I have yet another closing Sunday shift. Gross. So, again, results should be late. The forced curve (5/5/4/4/3/3/2/2/1/1/1) will be utilized unless there’s a non-submitter.

Word limit is 800. It got really long last time around, and it was quite late, so there it is. Don’t worry – the downward trend won’t last forever.

Cheers, Survivors.
