Sorry in advance for the sound quality and the two times the call drops. Will was on his cell.

“no offense Will, but I’m going to kill you.”
I really hope this is a recurring podcast theme where spooky threatens bodily harm to every guest.

Seems like an inevitability.

I’d volunteer for podcasting participation.

I certainly would, as well.

Sweet! They’re lining up already.
I probably won’t post more than two a week, unless people beg. I’m good to record when others are, though.
The rules:
*No phones. Will sounded like he had his hand over his mouth, unfortunately.
*Come up with a “top 5” to force me to do on the spot, related to the game.

Lisa Simpson would probably be pretty good at Fiction 59.

Here’s how much of a nerd I am: I considered her, but I thought of a really bad poem she wrote about when Snowball I died, and decided creative writing wasn’t her thing.
December 14, 2012 at 1:21 am
kg2005
I guess whether she would be good or not would depend on the writer. Heh.

Right, right. Though it was intentionally bad:
“I had a cat named Snowball. She died, she died.
Mom said she was sleeping. She lied, she lied!
Why, oh why is my cat dad? Couldn’t the Buick have hit me instead?”
—
Not sure about the words “sleeping” and “Buick,” but I know everything else is right. Yeardley Smith’s read is hilarious, too.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who remembered that and thought it was intentionally bad funny.

I have another episode in the can (Brooks). It’s 58 minutes long. Hey, what do you want from us?
I won’t put it up for a bit because I want these all to get a chance to be heard, but that’ll be the next one.

So, if we don’t use phones, we have to log into something using a headset? I’m ignorant of such things. Or do you just want no cell phones?
Our landlines at work are generally pretty clear and there’d be zero chance of getting a call on them.

I have a USB microphone that works well enough. I don’t know if that’s Brooks’s setup too, but he came through nice and clearly as well.

I don’t have that technology; just a stupid cell phone. I suppose in the future I can try to make some upgrades.

you can get some pretty cheap USB combination video camera/microphone that work pretty well. nice for Skype video calls
December 14, 2012 at 10:05 am

I’m pretty sure my USB camera/mic was super cheap, but then, I get a pretty hefty discount on such things.

I was just talking into my computer screen, I assumed the technology wizard that lives inside was holding up some kind of microphone.

Looking at the final submissions, if Sausage Fest had submitted my proposed snake plan (spelling out sausage) in exactly the spots I placed them, we still would have won! 110 to 78

Alright, I think I’m ready for Brooks’ podcast…
December 14, 2012 at 11:41 am
spookymilk
Heh. I’m not so sure you are.
I’m thinking two of these a week make sense. I plan on putting them up Sunday and Thursday nights so people can listen to them the next mornings on their commutes. Believe me, I’m already itching to put Brooks’s up, but I don’t want people to get sick of these too quickly.
I’m listening to the Brooks one right now to make sure there’s no weird dead time or anything.

I’ve just burned through my distractions quickly today. I’m absolutely sure I’m not ready for what Brooks has to say.

I tried to do an XI roundtable but couldn’t get all the necessary pieces together at once. Has it been too long already?
December 14, 2012 at 7:18 pm
macaronnincheez
Never too long, Especially when a new comer like me doesn’t have seasons to talk about or even a solid Top5 to present. An XI Roundtable would be my only gateway.
December 14, 2012 at 9:15 pm
mbnovak
I think if we’re going to discuss XI, these are the people we should invite to the table: Chunky Soup, Lean Mutton, Johnny Samplerplatter, Judas is a Carrot, Power of Bread, and Maddy Puppypickles, among others.

One comment: you could make the podcast smaller by switching to mono and cutting the bitrate to 64 kbps. Oh, you clearly need music as well.
December 15, 2012 at 1:36 am
spookymilk
I’d like to play some stupid, ill-fitting music. I don’t really know what I’m doing, but maybe I could fake it.
As for the former, I had no idea there were options. I just left things as they were and went to work.

Is there anyway to download these without getting all the spam downloader business? Is this on itunes or something?
January 8, 2013 at 8:52 pm

Look in the upper right hand corner and you can proceed to download page. May have to wait a few seconds before it shows up. Everything else on that first page is spam.
January 9, 2013 at 7:31 pm
punmanbowler
I try that and it still makes me download ilivid. I really want to listen to these, but on my MP3 player and not on my computer
January 9, 2013 at 8:05 pm
Beau
Hmm. I’m able to bypass ilivid no problem. When you hit download track, it brings me to the ilivid page. In the upper right hand corner, it says something “you may skip this message in six…five…four” and then there’s a “SKIP” button. When I hit that, it automatically begins downloading the file onto my computer.

If you’re not on a tindeck.com page, you haven’t go to the right place. Right when that iLivid page comes up, there will be a message in the right hand corner counting down the seconds. Then it will turn into a “skip” button. Click “skip” and you return to the tindeck.com with a download link instead of the ad.focus page.
I never saw where to go til my bro pointed it out.
