Homestar was on the verge of uncovering a huge conspiracy, and he knew it. “I’ve questioned Mr. Shmallow, Tim Duncan, and a bag of four grapes, and all answers point to the same thing.”
“Those are…my grapes, Homestar,” Strong Sad sighed.
“What? Was somebody talking?”
“No,” said everyone but Strong Sad.
“After careful deliberation, I have chosen to point a finger at…THE KING OF TOOOOWN!”
“Sorry, Homestar. I was night-killed! Time to feast, since I’m home from the island” The King of Town said, chewing on a leg of something or other.
“THAT’S MYYYY LEG!” Strong Mad screamed from the corner of eliminated people, and hurled The King of Town across the room.
Homestar looked at the suspects: Strong Bad. Coach Z. Bubs. Strong Bad. Pom Pom. Strong Bad. Dripping Yellow Madness. Strong Bad. Something was standing out to him, but what?

I don’t see a downside. We’ve got a miss to spare. If wolf false claims and we guess wrong, we get the wolf the next time around. Therefore wolf can’t false claim, therefore we get the angel eliminated from our possible suspect list and can narrow our search.
Am I missing anything?

Well that’s definitely good to know. Since a false claim here means losing, I’m good with this entirely.
So the wolf is either Melissa, viola, or Novak.
And Novak can’t be the wolf.

Maybe. I dunno. I don’t like any of the options. I was convinced wolf Melissa wouldn’t play such an absent game, but her arguments against me last night seemed . . . lame. I agree that it isn’t Novak. That leaves you, Melissa and Viola. I’ve not 100% cleared Viola in my mind either.

Sorry that I’m late to the party this morning. I just finished dropping off my pups at the vet. They’re getting their teeth cleaned.
I’m still seeing Novak as a villager and with Annette as the angel, that leaves me, Ink and Melissa.
I feel that I’ve done what I could to help and with DP going after me as hard as he did from day 1, I have to believe that he thought that I would make a pretty easy villager day kill.
Out of Melissa and Ink, I’d have to choose Ink. I would think that wolf Melissa, even busy wolf Melissa, would have been around more. I could be wrong but that’s where I’m at at this moment.

Annette being the angel helps a lot. From my perspective it leaves Melissa, Viola, and Inkarnit.
Each in turn:
Melissa: I do not see a case against Melissa at all. It seems the only thing to be said for her as a wolf is her absence. Her few posts, however, have been straight villager Melissa. I have wolfed with her in the past and she is jumpy, defensive of other wolves, etc. Her wolf game would have changed entirely if she is a wolf, and I simply can’t see it. Her observations and targetting have been villager hunting, even though there have been few (see this exchange last night: https://spookymilk.wordpress.com/2017/05/17/homestar-werewolf-day-three/#comment-84498 )
Viola: Has been active, around, at times an intriguing candidate. I thought she was clean on day 1 because of a sort of seer indication, but that could just as well have been a wolf or innocent thing. Last night Annette pointed out that Viola switched her vote off of DPWY earlier in the day very shortly after Annette put hers on (moving him from 3 to 2). However, the huge exoneration is that when it was tied 3-3 with Annette, she voted DPWY and sealed the deal for his elimination (which would be a terrible wolf move, since the village couldn’t miss again after that). So… therefore, there is no way Viola is a wolf unless she is the most stone cold wolf ever, and foresaw the village choosing correctly both votes unless she made such a cold hearted move.
Inkarnit:
He’s totally the wolf. See the above exonerating the other two. But also, he just couldn’t quite get there on DPWY yesterday, which was a bad move. Moreover, it’s exactly the same bad move DPWY made on Colin Prime. Which suggests this particular bunch of wolves tried to play fairly aggressively to force things, and then are relying on “but I wouldn’t do that move as a wolf because it would be bad” (nevermind that that argument is easily rebutted by “it’s only bad if you get caught, it’s just a good strong play if you don’t”).
Yup.

Homestar paced around Strong Bad’s living room as basically everyone else had retired to other rooms or their homes. Strong Bad stood inches from Homestar’s face, begging him to point the finger at him.
All other living people left the room.
“Strong Bad, because there are no other suspects…”
“HOORAY!!!!” everyone shouted, springing from all other areas of the room. They put a crown on Homestar and a sash that said “#1 Dad.”
“Oh…man,” Homestar said. “This is so touching, you guys. Is it my birthday? You guys. We should TOTALLY play Werewolf.”

And if they had said this, that would have made sense. I have no doubt it was a consideration, though I think in Ink’s shoes I would have probably attempted a shot at Novak last night. One village save doesn’t give the village any extra days, and is potentially harmful because a 3-1 day at the end is tougher than 2-1. Angels really have to save twice to make it worthwhile.
On the other hand, angel saves announce to the angel that the target is clean. So it’s a wash.
May 18, 2017 at 12:37 pm
Inkarnit
Yeah, we never really discussed or worried about where the angel save was. We knew Brooks was the Seer from night zero, which I think sucked. I made a suggestion to avoid that in the future for both Good and Evil Seers which Kelly seemed to like. Night zero peeks will always be a random negative view from now on.
But yeah, we figured we could kill DG safely on night one. Night two, I figured the save would be on me or Novak and didn’t want to risk it on Novak so killed todahshy. Night three was just me trying to do everything possible to NOT look like the one pulling the final strings.

Nor do the viewers.
Ink said last night that he didn’t see victory as possible so he wanted to kill Ash before he was gone. Which is pretty funny, I admit, but I honestly think he could have swayed this if you had gone instead. Nettie being the angel was a horrible draw for Colin the Lesser, but even then, he had Viola and Ash, and maybe Melissa, to throw under the bus. Viola couldn’t be a wolf for all the reasons you stated, but it’s an interesting question whether this would have been pointed out in your absence.

Honestly, I didn’t even see it right away. It just made no sense to me that Inkarnit was targeting Melissa, so I figured there must be some reason why Viola couldn’t be a wolf. Sorry to both Superior Colin and Colin the Lesser. So I didn’t have a good grasp of the votes the last hour of day one, and that definitely didn’t help. I also saw nothing wolfy about Superior Colin goofing off and had only included him in my initial suspect list to clear myself later. Then, when Novak went after him (and again, ash and Viola both did they saw nothing in him), I was mostly trapped.

I don’t think you were that bad at being a villager. But as a wolf, it’s our job to lie, embellish, and otherwise spread discontent. So if you do anything slightly bad, we want to harp on that.
But Melissa’s villager play this game was super bad. Somehow she exonerated herself to Novak, but I never saw it, even objectively. She came in and could have even caused us to mislynch the angel, which would have been super awesome.

Day One was pretty bad. It seemed to be an emotionally-driven decision not to go after any good targets and instead go after a silent player, which really never bears fruit on day one, and even when it does, it’s not super helpful because there’s nothing from the dead to parse (but again, this is unheard of; wolves talk all night so the odds of one just forgetting and not showing up during the day are incredibly low).
As the game wore on, I think you did a good job of making sense of the facts presented. You didn’t do a lot of your own presentation, but making correct sense of what’s in front of you is the next best thing, and a lot of people never even graduate to that level.
