“Ponyville ain’t safe anymore, is it Big Mac?”
“Uh… nope,” answered Big Mac.
“Is that ‘nope’ like it ain’t safe, or ‘nope’ like what I said was wrong. Dagnabit I wish you weren’t so committed to your affectations.”
“Uh… in that case, I’ll let you know that I meant the former, and would remind you that I frequently stray from my traditional speech patterns when doing so suits the humor needs of the the writers.”
“Quit yer gabbin’!” interrupted Granny Smith, “I think you ought to get out of Ponyville, Apple Jack. Move to Manehattan.”
And, since we all know Apple Jack was the foregone conclusion for last night’s wolf kill, I’ll give you the summary version of the rest of the story: Apple Jack moved to Manehattan, and discovered life in the big city wasn’t for her. Not because of the “big city” part, but because of the “life” part.

Well, crap. I was really hoping first that it was kg, and second, that nibbish would try to pull a switch and protect himself last night. Spooky, it’s up to you.

The hard part.
The whole wolf game has been about trading on the village’s fear of me as a wolf.
It has been discussed ad nauseam why the wolf didn’t kill me on night 1 or night 2, and now it is clear that this was the plan. It almost worked on day 3, and now it’s probably going to work on day 5.
I know this, but I don’t know how to convince you, spooky. Read my plea in the final hour of day 3 and keep in mind that all of that still applies. To my mind, I haven’t played a game that makes sense for a wolf, and that’s still true.

I read both of your games last night, and thought both of you were villagers, so there’s that. I really don’t get why Rob would leave DG alive, at ALL, but I also have a hard time envisioning some of DG’s moves as wolf moves.
I’m going to read it again.
Rob, my question for you: why did you disappear during the overtime?
March 13, 2015 at 10:34 am
rob
I got out of my meeting early. I was checking in on my smartphone during overtime. I had laid out my reasoning earlier for ZG over DG. I thought ZG was the wolf up until the end, and had voted for him consistently. Basically, I didn’t see any value to commenting more.

The annoying thing about this is that we essentially had a one-wolf game. Given how Annette played this, the wolf among you was able to leave no trail whatsoever.
I’ve still only read two days. I’m going slowly, trying to read (too much, no doubt) into everything.
DG: why weren’t you concerned with my promise to kill you today if the kg thing failed?

Rob seemed semi-content with the idea of being killed yesterday, as long as we killed kg today. An odd move if he’s a wolf, definitely. Granted, only one vote was on him at the time and he could afford to talk tough. He repeatedly exonerated DG, which frankly is one of the reasons I began to trust DG, despite kg being all over him. Rob’s been almost completely reactionary, rarely (if ever) introducing new ideas. He paid almost no attention to Discord. He didn’t start the voting on anyone who ended up going. DG created new targets, which is a very villager thing to do. Plus, I feel like Rob laid it on a little thick by continually pointing out what he would have done as a wolf with the night kills.
The night kills don’t help much. Either way, I’ll wonder why the wolf went the way they did.
If Rob’s the wolf, it was a good idea to keep DG. If DG’s the wolf, it was a good idea to keep Rob. With the way kg was all over DG it would actually help Rob a lot, if he’s the wolf.
DG says this game doesn’t line up with what he would do as a wolf, though I’m not sure I agree. There are no major leaps here, unless he wants to point them out.
On one hand, I don’t want to get beat by DG again. On the other, I don’t want to lose just because I don’t want to get beat by DG again. Plus, what’s another wolf win for DG? We’ll just toss it on the pile and forget about it, really.

March 13, 2015 at 11:33 am

There are no major leaps here, unless he wants to point them out.
I guess the only thing is that he didn’t seem too worried about numbers.
The number of confirmed villagers left alive throughout the game, the fact that it seems like he was very concerned with finding the angel when the angel had to have a lot of things go right to affect things in a meaningful way.
Obviously, there’s nothing I’m going to point to and say “I would never do that.” because that would be a lie. But, the fact that this strategy got us this far is remarkable considering there was almost no margin for error after he killed vanillager Melissa.

This is a tough one. I have holes in my game, but then again I usually do. DG has played a great game, and I was confident that he was safe. I can honestly say that I won’t be upset with either vote.
The question I’d ask you is this – given that the wolf has played a masterful game so far, is it more likely DG pulling the strings or me?
Once you answer that, you should know which way you should vote.

Either way, the kills are weird, but both could use them to further their argument.
I want to believe the Annette thing wouldn’t have happened if Brooks had been the other wolf.
Rob points out that it has to be Brooks, thanks to the wolf playing so well. He says DG is “pulling the strings.” But there ARE no strings, given that it was essentially a one-wolf game. I think a number of people could have done this on this site, because no other wolf could ruin it for them. Annette only played for a handful of hours before blowing up her game, at which point either of you would have been smart enough to leave her behind.

The carnage had spread across all of Equestria. The majestic unicorns, noble pegasus, and completely lame earth ponies had all been slaughtered at a frightful rate. Finally, it was time for Princess Celestia and Princess Luna to get off their asses.
“THE PRINCESSES ARE HERE!” shouted Pinkie Pie, to the tumbleweed that rolled through the town. “Great idea Tumbleweed! I’ll throw them a party! Ooh, I know, we can play Mafia!”
“Pinkie Pie,” said Celestia, with great pomp, “If these tragic events have taught us anything, it’s that the magic of friendship is not as great as we thought it was.”
“I used to be evil,” added Luna, “so I can understand how the werewolves think.”
“Oh, werewolves don’t think, silly,” explained Pinkie Pie, “They just kill randomly. Why else do you think Inkarnit and MelissaD were targeted when they were? And don’t even get me started on fake seers! Though it sure was fun to watch! Oh, hey, sorry for distracting you, I guess!”
This last part was an apology to Princess Luna, who was eaten, so that our final scene can really just be Pinkie Pie, Princess Celestia, and Trixie.
“Pinkie, you hold the key to the survival of Equestria,” explained Princess Celestia.
“I do? Little ol’ me?”
“Yes, the element of laughter, which you represent, is more powerful than… oh, I can’t do this anymore. But you’ve got a gun in your hand, so you get to decide which of us you’re going to shoot.”
“Oh, hey! A gun. But it’s just a little handgun. That’s no fun. How about this! SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE PONY, I MEAN, FRIEND!”
“Yes, that’ll do nicely Pinkie,” encouraged Trixie, “Now, shoot Celestia, and we’ll rule all of Equestria together!”
“No, shoot Trixie!”
“No, shoot Celestia!”
“No, shoot Trixie!”
“I CAN’T DECIDE!” screamed Pinkie. Then, covering her eyes with her hooves, she lowered the gun, and alternated between the two targets, until she finally pulled the trigger.
“Bang!” said the little sign the popped out of the barrel.
“CLASSIC!” laughed Pinkie.
“Fine,” said Celestia, “I guess I will have to handle this myself. I am, after all, the most powerful pony in Equestria. To be honest, I don’t even know why I’ve been delegating my tasks to Twilight Sparkle all these years. It takes her so long to figure anything out. Quite a shame, really.”
And it was a shame. Because all of that delegating had caused her magic abilities to atrophy, and she wasn’t able to defeat Trixie on her own. Which was quite unfortunate for the village.
Fortunately for the village though, Spookie Pie finally picked up the real gun, and shot Trixie.
“Hehe, I’m a dead eye! Who would have guessed?” she giggled.

I kind of saw it coming. We had talked about how the seer was essentially useless and how the angel could protect them indefinitely.
We had talked about a role claim, but never really committed to when we should or shouldn’t do it.
Mostly at some point in our pre-game discussion I should have said “if you aren’t first to claim, don’t bother.”
So it was a little bit of “oh no. this won’t end well.” and some “I should have said something last night about this.”

Thanks. I really was as distracted as I sounded, so I was figuring I’d be gone pretty quickly. You had a really great game. I just didn’t figure that you’d be gutsy enough to start a seer play if you were a wolf, and there wasn’t anything that I saw the rest of the game to raise my suspicions.

There really weren’t any good targets for the village, and Brooks’ kill of Inkarnit definitely worked like he wanted it to. Except with Inkarnit, who was able to figure it out before I told him. But that doesn’t do anyone any good, so ignore it.
This is something that happens a lot with the early dead. For whatever reason, once a person’s pitched from the game, clarity ensues and they know who benefited most from night-killing them. It’s a weird phenomenon.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this on the site or just aside, but when Annette claimed, I really began to believe that it was such a bad claim that she HAD to believe it. I thought Novak had legitimately used the episode “Too Many Pinkie Pies” where she gets cloned. I even considered, since Annette announced that I was Tirek, that maybe I WAS Tirek but believed myself to be Pinkie Pie due to some weirdo Novak twist (THIS is how bizarre I considered her claim to be).
As claims go, it was weird. Immediately afterward claiming the guy who claimed it was the one holding the only role she could find? On the other hand, it is true that she probably would have peeked me first. Well, she DID, at that.

Matt, I know absolutely nothing about these ponies, but you still managed to make me laugh with your recaps. Well done.
March 13, 2015 at 12:43 pm
Inkarnit
Agreed. You did a great job as storyteller.
March 13, 2015 at 12:45 pm

I know pretty much everything about these ponies, and he honored them well. It was fun.

JudasGoat – 100% – one-time players blessed/cursed with a wolf role
freealonzo – 75% (9 out of 12) 2 wolf roles in 3 games played
MelissaD – 64% (9 out of 14) – 2 wolf roles in 4 games played

spookymilk
Nine weeks of Werewolf for Colin Woolston. Wow. Is that the most?
March 13, 2015 at 12:49 pm
daneekasghost
Those 59 don’t count my neutral roles as Cartman or Ron Swanson. So I might be the most.
otherwise, maybe bhiggum?
Sigh, I’ll be right bac.
March 13, 2015 at 12:52 pm
daneekasghost
Grey – 71 days alive (not accounting for Kenny)
DG – 66 days
Pirate – 60 days
nibbish – 55 days
bhiggum – 52 days
March 13, 2015 at 12:55 pm
spookymilk
Wow. Has bhiggum really played that many games without me?
I also think of nibs as an early-death guy too. I guess playing a crapload of the games overcomes that stigma. Or maybe I’m just over-representing the time he was night-killed on the first night as the seer.
March 13, 2015 at 12:57 pm
daneekasghost
bhiggum has played every game except this one.
He played Rome twice (once as a replacement).
March 13, 2015 at 12:58 pm
daneekasghost
Oh, it was a joke about you killing him. I get it.
March 13, 2015 at 12:59 pm
daneekasghost
nibs has been voted out as a villager once.
One time in 16 villager roles.
March 13, 2015 at 12:59 pm
spookymilk
There ya go. But holy crap, I can’t believe he just broke his streak. Now it’s just you and I, John Kinney, who’ve been involved in every game. KG has been involved in every one since #6. Good old Star Trek.
March 13, 2015 at 1:01 pm
daneekasghost
Ah, but you missed Turbo #6.
So I am truly the one with the least to do besides pretend to be a werewolf on the internet!
March 13, 2015 at 1:03 pm
Inkarnit
I’m trying to win that role currently DG.
March 13, 2015 at 1:05 pm
spookymilk
Yeah, I guess I wasn’t looking at Turbo. I was bummed when I got home from work that night and saw I’d missed a night of Turbination, but reading it was so, so sweet.
March 13, 2015 at 1:23 pm
joepunman
Who’s John Kinney?
March 13, 2015 at 1:28 pm
spookymilk
Let’s see if anyone else gets the reference first. (If you’re antsy, it can be easily googled: “It’s you and I, John Kinney! It’s you and I!”)

Inkarnit
So.. Will?
March 13, 2015 at 1:04 pm

Can I do Fun Facts too?! I see that this was my first survival since The Parish (12/22/11) and just third overall. It was Rob’s first ever.
March 13, 2015 at 1:47 pm
rob
Woo! I’m alive! (though apparently a princess?)
March 13, 2015 at 1:07 pm
spookymilk
One more true thing: I’ve voted for DG so few times over the years, that once I decided on him today, I thought “How do I usually type that in votes? Two words capitalized, or one long uncapitalized thing?”
March 13, 2015 at 1:11 pm
daneekasghost
FUN FACT #whatever
This is only the second time the village got down to a last day and then killed the wolf.
Both times I was alive on that last day (but once I wasn’t the wolf!)
March 13, 2015 at 1:22 pm
The Dread Pirate
OK I was convinced DG was the wolf the way he first reacted when nibbish came out as angel. He tried damage control right away but thought initial slip (knowing one less route to victory was available).
March 13, 2015 at 1:31 pm
daneekasghost
FUN FACT:
That whole argument was false on my part. If the village had lynched the neutral and then got an angel save, it would require one more day, but no more mistakes, since we would essentially be starting day 5 with the same players as day 4 minus the neutral.
Thankfully, no one double checked it.
March 13, 2015 at 1:36 pm
daneekasghost
My plan was to propose that idea and then try to avoid the angel save.
Earn myself one more night kill.
March 13, 2015 at 1:37 pm
daneekasghost
but then nibbish claimed early on.
March 13, 2015 at 1:22 pm
TDO
I like the role of neutral, it’s easier for me to win than trying to get y’all to believe i’m a villager 😉
March 13, 2015 at 1:25 pm
Inkarnit
You played it very well. Especially for being so used to being vanillager.
March 13, 2015 at 1:41 pm
daneekasghost
Last thing (maybe)
I thought Spooky was trying to get the wolf to claim neutral on day 4. TDO was not claiming because he wanted the wolf to be able to claim his role and increase the chance of a villager lynching.
I thought spooky had peeked TDO and knew he was the neutral and would come down on whoever else claimed the role.
Of course, that option wasn’t available to me, since I had voted for yickit I couldn’t be the neutral, so nothing was going to happen except all of us looking at TDO wondering when he was going to claim.
March 13, 2015 at 1:49 pm
spookymilk
I was indeed going for that. I knew it was a long shot, but since I was going to be bluffing anyway, I went for it.
I had peeked nibbish the night before.
March 13, 2015 at 1:59 pm
nibbish
I figured that you were waiting for me to claim it, then pounce on me.
March 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm
nibbish
Knowing that you probably peeked me because of my unbelievably Wolfy night during the DG/ZG debate.
One of the reasons I was so quick to claim was that I knew I was going to be looked on with a lot of skepticism, and it was a combination of not wanting to waste the village’s time and not having the energy to defend myself.
March 13, 2015 at 1:49 pm
rob
I had already claimed that I wasn’t discord, though, so changing my mind would’t be the best idea.
March 13, 2015 at 1:50 pm
kg2005
That was MY plan. I brought up the neutral that day with that in mind. I realized while I was working on it that it would be a terrible move for the wolf, but it was still good for the village if the neutral revealed himself.
March 13, 2015 at 1:50 pm
kg2005
I even sent an email to Matt entitled “DG bait”
March 13, 2015 at 1:51 pm
kg2005
Or was that day 3? I think it was.
March 13, 2015 at 1:54 pm
daneekasghost
Well, you were much more subtle about it. I noticed spooky doing it, but not your bait.
(mostly because I had ruled out the neutral claim for myself early on day 3)
March 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm
kg2005
Right, it turned out to be a terrible idea because if the wolf claimed neutral they would be revealed on the last day. If that wasn’t the case though it would have been an awesome move for the wolf. I hadn’t realized at that point that you had ruled yourself out for the neutral. But the original plan was to talk about how great of an idea it would be for the neutral to claim and have the wolf realize it would be good for them at that point too.
March 13, 2015 at 1:44 pm
BigPapaJonTheElf
My biggest regret was not nominating Inkarnit to have to rhyme. When I told Annette that I had intended to do it, but missed my chance, she said “but he can’t talk, he’s dead!” To which I replied, “Dead, huh? And you think THAT will shut him up?”
March 13, 2015 at 1:50 pm
spookymilk
I would have been really disappointed if I hadn’t been the one to do it. Then again, watching Inkarnit fumble through it could have been fun, too.

You were amazing. Thank you, Annette.

March 13, 2015 at 2:39 pm

Thanks, guys. Normally I wrote the first lines first, but with lefty I knew where my comment was ending and had to find a way to set it up.
March 13, 2015 at 2:18 pm
Inkarnit
You were pretty awesome with it. I wouldn’t have been nearly as good, but it certainly would have caused me to be MORE talkative, since I would have felt like I had to use it.

March 13, 2015 at 1:57 pm
daneekasghost
I really enjoyed that I kept killing spooky’s peeks.
March 13, 2015 at 2:32 pm
TDO
The reason I held out on revealing myself as discord was I wanted the wolf somewhere to hide (hoping they didn’t realize the day after they would be dead, again just looking out for me). I figured It would be easier for me to claim a weird villager (like usual) than to claim neutral and the wolf have one more option to them as the roles were being filled quickly at the end of the game.
March 13, 2015 at 2:38 pm
kg2005
You did a fine job, and that’s a great reason for not coming out. Spooky and i kept insisting it was good for the neutral to role claim, but there really wasn’t any great reason to do it unless he was in immediate danger. I wanted the neutral to claim though, so I didn’t bring that part up.
March 13, 2015 at 2:33 pm
TDO
Spooky why did you not peek me when you thought I was the neutral?
March 13, 2015 at 2:38 pm

Because drinking.

If Brooks is alive on Day 3 LYNCH HIM.
When I get a chance later I’ll explain my wolf bait strategy on day 3 that I did not get to expound on because I was murdere .
March 13, 2015 at 2:38 pm

So if I’m the wolf all I have to do is leave Brooks alive until day 3 then let the village handle it?
March 13, 2015 at 2:41 pm

Except he will sniff you out before then so it’s not really worth the risk.

Honestly part of me finds it harder to sign up for each game. I still love playing the game, but I know its going to be a matter of time before Random remembers me. It’s kind of fun never being a wolf. It’s like my shtick now.

I have never been lynched by the village though. Only wolf-killed.
